Another structure you cannot imagine without New St. The two are interwoven in the architectural fabric of the city centre

And this is why they call it 'The Dip'. Here a Pendolino comes into New Street from Proofhouse Junction and the dive under the Moor Street lines resulting in a steep gradient in either direction. Note the angle of the rearmost visible vehicle compared to the driving cab
